FHF EVENTS & CONCERTS!

The Speedway Medallion Hunt starts June 5th, followed by a Senior Luncheon June 7th, and the Elm Creek Brewing beer tasting June 8th. June 9th will feature the annual parade, fireworks, carnival, new outdoor family movie, and a concert by Rockstar Bob's Rockshow ($10). Saturday will feature a fun run, bags tournament, bingo, trivia, karaoke, dance party, ice cream social, carnival, and concert by Xpedition ($20) with guests Weekend Rockstar. Sunday includes the Mayor's Breakfast, talent show, youth fishing contest, carnival unlimited pass, and ice cream social. Learn more and preregister for events.

MC SUMMER SERIES!

Come to Mississippi Crossings to enjoy a summer night on the river every Thursday with select Fridays and Saturdays. Free entertainment plus food trucks, beverages, and Cullens Ice Cream await! Arrive by boat, car, or bike to 307 East River Parkway. Chairs are welcome, or there's stadium and lawn seating in the outdoor performance area plus a playground and lawn games in the plaza. Learn more.

Summer 2023 Parks & Recreation Offerings

PROGRAMS, LEAGUES, & RENTALS!

We have youth, teen, adult, and senior offerings to keep everyone active this summer. Be sure to sign your kids up to try a new sport or creative class. The first session of programs will start the week of June 12th. To avoid late fees register online by June 5th.  View the Summer Brochure. Inside you'll find each offering plus the cost, day, and time. Rental and special event information is also listed. We'd love to host your next party at a local park or the Andrews Park Splash Pad.

SPLASH PAD NOW OPEN!

The Andrews Park Splash Pad and snack shack are reopen for the 2023 season, weather permitting. Hours include: 

  • May 30-June 2 | 10am - 5pm
  • June 3-4 | 10am - 7:30pm
  • June 5-9 | 10am - 5pm
  • June 10-Septemer 3 |10am - 7:30pm

MOVING THE MARKET!

The City is excited to share that we are moving the Champlin Farmers Market to Mississippi Crossings, on Tuesdays from 2-6pm, July 11th to October 10th. We look to expand offerings and have plenty of space to accept new vendors. Plan to visit weekly to enjoy fresh produce and flowers. Learn more.

NIGHT TO UNITE!

It's time to register your block party! This annual crime prevention event will be on Tuesday, August 1st. Start making plans to gather your neighbors outdoors in a friendly and social atmosphere. We look forward to stopping by to say hi. Register online.

JUMP IT UP!

Come to Andrews Park on July 15th at 11am for a bounce house event. We'll have inflatables (including waterslides) for kids to run and jump through plus food trucks! Purchase $12 wristbands now and save!

BIG TRUCKS & COOL STUFF!

This free event returns August 3rd from 4-7pm in the Public Works Yard. Climb in Public Works, Police, and Fire vehicles. The Lookout and Minne-Scoop-Ta food trucks will be onsite for dinner and dessert.

BLASTER BATTLES & MOVIE IN THE PARK!

Wrap up summer on August 25th with an epic nerf battle prior to a movie at dusk. Bring chairs and blankets; this year’s show will be Top Gun Maverick. Learn more.

COLORING CONTEST!

The police department invites kids to enter a "What Public Safety Looks Like To Me" coloring contest. Pick up a poster at City Hall or the Police Station (first come, first serve) and return it by June 18th. One winner from each age group will be recognized with pizza and a police station tour at a City Council Meeting. Learn more.

SUMMER SPRINKLING RESTRICTIONS!

The mandatory odd-even sprinkling ban is in effect through Labor Day. The ordinance prohibits watering between 10 am and 7 pm. Learn more.

GOLF CARTS!

Permit applications are available online. City Council approved the use of golf carts on certain city streets with a city-issued permit. The police department will set up and monitor permits to ensure the safety initiatives put in place are followed. View the rules, authorized roadways, and educational handout.
Police Chief Ty Schmidt retired on May 31, 2023.

RETIREMENT CELEBRATION!

Congratulations to Police Chief Ty Schmidt on his recent retirement and thank you for 32 years of service (1991 to 2023). He dedicated 28 of his 32 years to our community (1995 to 2023), serving six years as our Chief of Police (2017 to 2023). Congratulations and best wishes! Read his farewell.

CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS!

Meet the 2023 Mayor and City Council. Regular meetings are held at City Hall, inside Council Chambers, on the 2nd and 4th Monday of each month.  Agendas are online. Meetings are open to the public and located at 11955 Champlin Drive. Residents are invited to watch it live on QCTV.
