FLOODING POTENTIAL
The river continues to rise and we are forecasted to enter the minor flood stage by Saturday, April 15th, at 7:00 a.m. Public Works is preparing sandbags in the Public Works Yard at 11955 Champlin Drive and could use community help filling bags today, Friday, April 14th, until 6pm. If you are 18+ and able to volunteer, park at the Ice Forum and check-in with Public Works. There is a potential need for additional volunteers on Saturday, April 15th, from 9am to 3pm. Please follow our website and Facebook for daily updates.
The good news is that the vast majority of homes on the river are built above the flood plain. If you think you have a riverfront need to protect a structure (house, garage, etc.), stop by the Public Works Yard, 11955 Champlin Drive, to pick up a 50-bag palette of sandbags. Unsure if you have a need? Call our City Engineer, Heather, at 763-923-7120 (leave a message). We can review your property information.
City staff will continue to diligently monitor river elevations using the RIVER GAUGE located on the Hwy 169 bridge and follow the flood response plan. Based on current levels, Galloway Park, Mississippi Crossings, Mississippi Point Park, and the lower point boat launch are closed until further notice. Please stay safe and off the river.
