City Commissions

Champlin residents are encouraged to apply to serve on one of the City's three commissions. Appointments are made annually in January as well as throughout the year when resignations occur. The City Council is responsible for making all commission appointments.

PLANNING COMMISSION

Land use planning shapes the look and feel of a community. If you would like to be involved in planning the future for the City of Champlin, the Planning Commission welcomes your application to serve. The Planning Commission has created and is responsible for updating the City's Master Plan. The Commission makes recommendations to the City Council on development and redevelopment plans.

There are several positions open on the Planning Commission. To apply complete the application and return it to the City Planner at schulte@ci.champlin.mn.us. If you have questions about this commission contact the City Planner Scott Schulte at 763-923-7102.

ENVIRONMENTAL RESOURCES COMMISSION(ERC)


This Commission works on a number of environmental events and educational activities. They sponsor an Earth Day Clean-up Event, Recycling Drop-Off Event, Farmers Market education booth, Metro Blooms speaker and an Arbor Day tree sapling give-away program. They support environmental education through the award of mini-grants to Champlin schools and organziations.They also support the development of rain gardens throughout the community through the award of native planting for water quality grants to Champlin property owners.

PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION

If you have a passion for parks the Parks and Recreation Commission welcomes your application to serve. The Commission is responsible for park and trail system development and recreation program design.
