ANDREWS PARK IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
HERITAGE BRICK CAMPAIGN
"Be Forever A Part of Champlin's Community Park"
Heritage Brick sales will continue at least through December 2013. For information on purchasing a brick, you may contact Alicia Jahnke at firstname.lastname@example.org or 763-923-7198. This is a great opportunity for you and your family to be forever a part of Andrews Park.
The first phase of the Andrews Park improvement project is essentially complete. This phase involved the expansion of the main parking lot, re-aligning the west park entrances and installing some of the underground infrastructure that will used to support the phases two and three park improvements. This spring there will be some site restoration taking place. Although the construction fencing will remain in place throughout the summer, the playground will be open and available for use throughout the summer, until construction resumes.
Phase Two, which was originally scheduled to start last fall has been re-bid and is now scheduled to start in late August of 2013. By re-bidding this portion of the project, the City has received more favorable bid numbers; allowing us to keep all the originally planned amenities intact. This phase will include the development of a splash pad, a new, larger picnic shelter and some additional improvements to the programming building. The construction should start late in August, 2013 and continue through the winter months. As part of phase two, the Heritage Bricks that have been sold will be installed in the spring of 2014.
Phase Three, which will include the construction of shade shelters by the softball complex and some significant building improvements, will go out to bid later this year. The tentative construction period for that phase is currently Fall of 2014.
